Ensure Elevator Preventive Maintenance Program for Smooth Functioning of Lifts

What is elevator preventive maintenance program?
An elevator preventive maintenance program is a must in any area where people use passenger lifts or elevators to reach to various locations inside a commercial building or multistoried offices or apartments or even home elevators. It is important for the elevator preventive maintenance personnel who inspect the elevator to be highly qualified and knowledgeable of all the different kinds of lifts and elevators that are prevailing in the current Toronto market. A maintenance program has to be carried out on passenger and freight elevators once in six months by qualified and certified personnel.

What all are checked?
Elevator preventive maintenance personnel will first look into the doors of the lift and the smoothness in which it opens and closes. The maintenance of the interior of the personnel lifts will also be monitored by the preventive maintenance personnel. It is necessary for the elevator to have an emergency phone line that has access to 911 operators. The machine room of the elevator will also be thoroughly checked by the elevator preventive maintenance personnel. The head room space, lights inside the machine room, the control panel and the emergency stop switch etc will all be closely checked by the personnel.
