Elevator Consultant/Field Inspector – Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

Position Overview

As a key member of Solucore’s technical consulting team, the Elevator Consultant is responsible for conducting inspections, audits, and reviews on elevating devices across the GTA. This role requires strong technical expertise, client relationship management skills, and the ability to lead inspections with professionalism and precision.

The Elevator Consultant represents Solucore within the business and client community, upholding our reputation for integrity, transparency, and technical excellence. This individual plays a critical role in supporting Solucore’s mission of delivering data-driven, objective, and high-quality vertical transportation consulting services across Canada.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection & Technical Leadership

  • Perform maintenance and repair inspections in accordance with Solucore standards and applicable codes.
  • Conduct detailed technical audits, due diligence assessments, reserve fund studies, and peer review audits.
  • Prepare comprehensive inspection and audit reports with actionable recommendations for clients.
  • Attend and participate in maintenance and performance review meetings as required (Evolve platform) with elevator contractors and property management teams.
  • Develop specifications for repair projects.
  • Monitor and coordinate repair projects; prepare progress reports, meeting minutes, and monthly summaries.

Leadership & Internal Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Solucore’s leadership team to develop inspection standards, safety programs, and training initiatives.
  • Mentor junior inspectors and assist with onboarding and development of new employees.
  • Uphold and protect Solucore’s proprietary tools and systems (Evolve, Soludex) and ensure data confidentiality.
  • Communicate regularly with the Vice President regarding project progress, client concerns, and potential risks.
  • Act as a technical and strategic resource for Solucore leadership on escalated client issues.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Valid Elevating Device Mechanic (EDM-A or EDM-F) certification.
  • NAESA QEI (Qualified Elevator Inspector) certification (required).
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is an asset.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in the elevator industry, including inspection, consulting, modernization, or maintenance management.
  • Strong understanding of elevator and escalator systems, mechanical and electrical principles, and applicable codes and standards.

Technical Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of the Technical Standards & Safety Act, 2000, O. Reg. 209/01, O. Reg. 221/01, CAN/CSA B44, and related standards.
  • Familiarity with the National Building Code of Canada and Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to senior client management.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and report-writing abilities.

Working Conditions & Requirements

  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Ability to work from home (high speed internet required) or from Mississauga office as required
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and around moving equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs of tools and equipment.
  • Flexible to work occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call assignments.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance consistent with Solucore’s brand standards (business attire for meetings, business casual for site work).
  • Ability to work throughout GTA, travel within Ontario and support regional offices as required.
