There are some services where you really can’t allow yourself to compromise the quality of the experts you’re hiring in any way – elevator installation and maintenance fall under that category pretty nicely. It’s extremely important to know that you’re putting your trust into a quality elevator installation consultant, in order to be sure that the elevator system in the buildings under your control are always running at their best capacity, and that their safety is maintained in a professional way under strict observation. And it’s not even difficult to find a good elevator installation consultant to work with – the market nowadays offers plenty of experts in this field and you can easily find someone to work with you for a good price as long as you’re willing to put in some time towards your search. In addition, if you sign up for a long-term servicing contract you may be able to get an even better deal in general, but you’ll have to check to ensure that you’re working with a company that can be trusted in general because there’s hardly anything worse than signing up for a long deal like that only to find out that the company is far from a professional one.

Why do many buildings have both elevators and escalators? Certainly if you have escalators you may also need elevators for people unable to use an escalator such as those in wheelchairs or with prams or similar and lifts are useful for moving goods and equipment as well. So why not just have lifts as anyone who can use an escalator can also use a lift. Many buildings don’t need an escalator but with those that have a lot of people coming in and out on a constant basis an escalator might be useful. If people are in a hurry it might take them a long time to wait for a lift and they may only be going a few floors, an escalator may be much quicker. In shopping malls and inside departments stores especially people going by escalator has the advantage that they pass by different shops or different products on the way to their floor and spot things that might interest them. In buildings with shops, offices and areas such as atriums in the bottom few floors and then other less frequented offices above escalators may be ideal for the bottom few floors while an elevator takes people up to other floors.

Elevators are for many public buildings not an option but essential. With elevators you may need them legally in order that the building you own or manage is accessible to disabled persons or you may need them because they are expected by customers or tenants. Buildings of a certain age often don’t have lifts but even with three or four storeys or more or even just two storey’s elevators may be expected and you may have trouble letting space without them. This includes apartments where without a lift the top floor will fetch the least rent, with a lift assuming there is a good view top floor apartments will fetch the most rent. As for offices you may be unable to let out offices or have to let them out for a pittance if there is no lift. Large businesses need to have lifts for clients including disabled clients and need to have a policy where they will give disabled people a fair chance of getting a job, if they don’t have access then they won’t be able to do this. Shops as well in malls and mini malls with no lift access will be equally difficult to let for the same reasons and because some customers will be unwilling to visit a shop if they have to climb stairs.

When it comes to modernizing an old building you may have to invest a lot and the money will come back to you slowly in most cases. With certain improvements though you could increase the rental prices for offices, shops and apartments drastically. Alternatively if you are a business with your own building then modernizing it is going to help your image and impress clients, it is a little more difficult to measure the value but it will come in terms of more business and a higher perceived value to what it is you offer.
One big part of modernizing older buildings is installing elevators and potentially also escalators. This may be to replace those already in place or may be adding them for the first time. With elevators you may well want to add express elevators that will get people quickly between floors and increase productivity as well as increasing rental values on upper floors. With escalators these are of course a normal feature of malls but you also may want to consider them for new atrium areas of buildings where boutiques and heavily frequented offices may be as well as meeting and sitting areas that could be a part of your building’s new look.
